Kara Grotheim, LMSW

Kara Grotheim, LMSW, brings a rare and beautiful combination to inner healing prayer: the heart of a minister, the training of a social worker, and the lived experience of someone who has walked with people across cultures, seasons, and stories.

Kara grew up as a missionary kid in Buenos Aires, Argentina, where she first learned to see God moving in diverse cultures and communities. When her family returned to Texas, they planted a church in West Texas—another season that deepened her love for ministry and prayer.

After attending Texas A&M University, Kara and her husband launched a church plant serving college students at Texas State University. It was there that she discovered how much she loved sitting with people in prayer, helping them hear Jesus’ voice, and watching Him bring healing and clarity. She eventually served as a Deacon of Prayer Ministry, facilitating sessions and walking closely with students through their spiritual journeys.

A career transition later brought her family to Longview, Texas. In that season, Kara sensed the Lord inviting her to pursue her long‑standing passion for mental and emotional health. She earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Texas at Arlington, integrating professional training with her ministry background.

As a Licensed Master Social Worker, Kara carries a deep commitment to the dignity, worth, and agency of every person she serves. Her approach is client‑centered, gentle, and collaborative—creating a safe harbor for those seeking to understand God’s voice, receive His healing, and walk in greater freedom.
